This is a research article about social determinants of health (SDOH) in pregnant women from minority groups in the United States. The article explores how racial and ethnic disparities lead to unequal maternal health outcomes. Social determinants of health (SDOH) are important factors contributing to these differences. These determinants include access to education, healthcare, safe housing, and healthy food. Chronic stress can also be a social determinant of health. The authors argue that racism and discrimination are SDOH that can negatively impact health. They conclude that addressing SDOH is essential to improve health equity for pregnant women.
