Overview
Community Health Centers (CHCs) care for more than 1 in 5 Medicaid beneficiaries nationally, and half of health center patients are Medicaid beneficiaries. CHCs provide care to patients, regardless of their ability to pay or insurance coverage, while also delivering significant value to the U.S. health care system. In 2024 alone, CHCs saved Medicaid $58 billion by providing affordable, comprehensive, and multidisciplinary primary care. On average, CHCs save 24% of health care costs per Medicaid beneficiary when compared to other providers.
From 2023 to 2024, 23% of CHC patients covered by Medicaid were estimated to have been unenrolled. Outreach and enrollment work are fundamental to the CHC mission.
