Direct Relief has distributed 600 individual grants worth almost $30 million to Community Health Centers. The funds were collected from a groundswell of supporters, including individuals and corporate leaders, a cross-section of leading artists — including Sean “Diddy” Combs and professional athletes. The fund comprises the largest private donation health centers have received since they sprang into existence 55 years ago as part of the Johnson Administration’s War on Poverty [See NACHC Blog Post].
Direct Relief recently heard from health center leaders across the country describe the challenges of treating the nation’s most vulnerable populations during the Covid-19 pandemic.
