Community Health Centers were recently notified that starting on April 6th the federal COVID-19 Uninsured Program would stop accepting claims for vaccinating, testing, and treating COVID patients who do not have the means to pay their medical bills. The fund had been a lifeline during the worst upsurges of the virus, when health centers were exhaustively vaccinating, testing, and treating non-acute COVID cases and diverting them from overwhelmed hospitals. In a recent letter to Congressional appropriators, NACHC called these developments “troubling.”
