BETHESDA, MD— The 2024 Policy and Issues Forum, sponsored by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), kicks off next week (February 12-15th) in Washington, D.C. The national conference is the largest gathering of Community Health Center professionals, drawing thousands of health centers doctors, nurses, professionals, board members, and patients who comprise the largest primary care network in the country.
Members of the press who wish to cover the NACHC P&I must register in advance. To learn more about NACHC’s press policies and guidelines, please visit this link.
The conference speaker lineup features top health officials:
- HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra
- White House Domestic Policy Council Advisor Neera Tanden
- Health Resources and Services Administration Administrator Carole Johnson
- Administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Chiquita Brooks-Lasure
- Miriam E. Delphin-Rittmon, PhD, Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use Administrator, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
The NACHC conference comes at a critical time for health centers as a “safety net under stress,” according to the Associated Press. One in 11 Americans are turning to health centers for quality affordable care (an historic high of 31.5 million patients nationwide), but the federal budget debate has delayed action on critical funding for the program, which expires on March 8th. A large focus for NACHC and its members will be pressing lawmakers on Capitol Hill to pass bipartisan legislation for long-term funding to sustain their mission of advancing health equity.
Educational sessions at the conference will address Medicaid renewals, value-based payments and transformation, telehealth as a vital component of the health center mission to minimize barriers to accessing services, research to inform both clinical practice and evidence-based policy that promotes equitable health care access and outcomes, and more.
