Community Health Centers rely on savings from the federal 340B drug pricing program to expand access to comprehensive primary care and promote health equity. This infographic shows the connection between the 340B program and health equity. Health centers promote health equity by expanding patient access to primary care in medically underserved communities.
Health centers serve all patients regardless of income or insurance status. The 1,400 health centers across the country serve 30 million patients. Of those:
- 65% are people of color
- 90% are people with low incomes
- 42% live in rural communities
- 35% are patients more likely to have a chronic condition
NACHC estimates that more than half of health center patients would go without needed medications if they did not have access to discounts made possible by the 340B program.
