Overview
The high-quality, cost-effective, and comprehensive services health centers provide make them a valuable investment for federal, state, and local governments alike. Health centers’ revenue comes from a variety of sources, including reimbursements from Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, and federal and state grants, which includes grants funded by HRSA’s Community Health Center Fund (CHCF). The primary form of federal funding for health centers is the Health Center Program, which is authorized in Section 330 of the Public Health Services Act.
Grants and other government funding opportunities enable health centers to:
- continue delivering valuable care to the uninsured and underinsured
- open their doors in some of our most marginalized communities
- address public health crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing opioid epidemic
- serve all patients, regardless of ability to pay, with quality health care
